Ocean City Maryland Firefighter Bartholomew Allegretto Arrested, Charged With Child Molestation Posted by * Published in MARYLAND
OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND - Police charged a city firefighter with sexually assaulting a juvenile last year.
Police on Friday arrested Bartholomew Allegretto, 49, at an Ocean Avenue home. He was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a juvenile and was lodged at the Cape May County jail Monday on $150,000 bail set by Municipal Court Judge Richard A. Russell.
Superior Court Judge Raymond Batten filed an order that Allegretto have no future contact with the juvenile.
Police said the assault occurred between January and October 2007. Allegretto has been an Ocean City firefighter for about 12 years, police said.
Allegretto is the uncle of City Councilman Michael Allegretto.
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - An attorney for a Baltimore County man has filed notice with the city that he intends to file a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against three police officers who he says abused him on a Southeast Baltimore street corner in October.
According to the notice filed this month with the city by attorney Gary N. Bowen, Steven Vernarelli said he was stopped by three city police officers Oct. 22.
While standing at Jefferson and Curley streets, Vernarelli, a 23-year-old Rosedale man, said an officer sexually assaulted him while two other officers watched, the notice states. He said he will seek $100 million in damages when he files his lawsuit.
Sterling Clifford, a Police Department spokesman, said the department received a complaint from Vernarelli in October and that the incident remains under investigation
VIRGINIA, ILLINOIS — Shane A. Lisenbee, the Beardstown police officer arrested last weekend on allegations of domestic battery, was charged in Cass County Circuit Court Wednesday with four counts alleging predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
His wife, Stephanie, was also arrested Wednesday at the Cass County Courthouse on a warrant alleging two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
The couple appeared in court for a juvenile court matter, but prior to that hearing, each was brought separately before Circuit Judge Bob Hardwick Jr., who read the criminal charges to them.
The charges allege that Mr. Lisenbee, 32, committed sexual acts, including sexual intercourse, with a girl and committed a sexual act with a boy, both of whom were younger than age 13. Mrs. Lisenbee is accused of having sexual intercourse with the boy.
The charges also accuse the couple of aiding each other in the alleged crimes. The offenses are alleged to have occurred between Nov. 1, 2006, and Dec. 31 of last year and involve two children who are known to the couple.
All of the charges are Class X felonies, and each is punishable by six to 30 years imprisonment. There is no right of probation, meaning a sole conviction would carry a mandatory minimum sentence of six years in prison. Because there are two victims, the husband and wife could face mandatory life in prison if convicted of sexually assaulting both children.
NORTH ADAMS, NEW YORK - A North Adams Police officer was arraigned Friday in Northern Berkshire District Court on a sexual assault charge.
44-year-old James Foley of North Adams is charged with one count of Indecent Assault and Battery on a child under the age of 14. Foley pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance on the condition he have no contact with the alleged victim.
The District Attorney’s office says the incident is alleged to have occurred in North Adams in March of 2007, but wasn’t reported until September. The girl was a family friend of Foley’s.

LYNNWOOD, WASHINGTON - Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies were getting ready to arrest a man on outstanding felony warrants at an apartment in the Lynnwood area Saturday night when the man took off.
Police say as they were moving in, the 24-year old man, along with a 20-year old woman, jumped into a stolen SUV and drove off, leading deputies on a short car chase.
Before long, the couple drove themselves into a road block.
“The suspects ended up on a dead-end road. The male suspect, who was driving the stolen car, backed the car into a deputy’s car. Another deputy at the scene got out of his patrol vehicle and a fired a shot,” said Sgt. Jerry Strieck.
The Everett Police Dept. is handling the investigation involving Snohomish County deputies. They say only one shot was fired, and that was by one of the deputies.
Somehow, the bullet shattered the window of an unmarked deputy’s car, which was responding to the call. It’s not clear how that happened.
PORTAGE COUNTY, WISCONSIN - A Portage County Sheriff’s deputy has been charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle in connection with an October crash in Plover, according to the Stevens Point Journal.
A Wisconsin State Patrol accident reconstructionist says Ken Tschudy was driving approximately 52 miles per hour when he crashed into a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Mindy Erickson.
Tschudy is scheduled to make an initial court appearance February 19 and faces a maximum 10 years in prison, if convicted.
Tschudy was responding to a hit-and-run accident in Plover when authorities say he ran through a red light and struck Erickson.
ELIZABETH, NEW JERSEY - Thomas D’Amico, an off-duty Elizabeth cop who joined with his friends to stomp and kick a defenseless man to death eight years ago will not get his 27-year prison sentence reduced, a Union County judge decided today.
D’Amico claimed that his lawyer Robert Norton gave him bad advice and convinced him to not only testify at his trial in 2002 but told him to show jurors how he rammed his right leg into Bennett Grant’s body.
D’Amico, 38, is serving out his sentence at Riverfront Prison in Camden.
His request for a sentence reconsideration is part of a string of appeals to the courts since his conviction in 2002 and came after the state Supreme Court reinstated his conviction for aggravated manslaughter and official misconduct.
Assignment Judge Walter Barisonek said D’Amico got a fair trial and he had effective counsel.
“The defendant cannot assail the (trial) strategy now,” Barisonek said in his courtroom in Elizabeth. “The fact that the defendant did not stand up well under cross examination does not make counsel ineffective.”
JOHNSTOWN, NEW YORK — Retired Johnstown police officer Warren S. Maas, the department’s former DARE officer, is charged with possessing child pornography on his computer.
State Police arrested the 55-year-old Maas on Thursday following a seven-month investigation.
Fulton County District Attorney Louise K. Sira said a family member discovered the images in 2006 and alerted authorities.
Maas, who retired about 11 years ago after a 20-year career as a Johnstown police officer, served as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education officer for at least three years, a department spokesman said.
LIVINGSTON COUNTY, NEW YORK - In 2001, Livingston County Jail Deputy Mark A. Cole was awarded a medal of valor for fighting a fire that extensively damaged the jail.
But Cole will now lose his job and go to prison for possessing child pornography on his home computer.
State Supreme Court Justice John A. Ark sentenced Cole on Tuesday to spend 21/3 to seven years behind bars after Cole pleaded guilty to three felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.
Cole, who has been suspended without pay since his arrest in February 2007, will be fired, said Sheriff John York.
ATLANTA, GEORGIA — A veteran Atlanta police officer was indicted Friday oncharges that he molested a 12-year-old girl.
Atlanta Police Department officials said Investigator Wilson Carstaffin has been indicted on two counts of child molestation, two counts of sexual battery and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Officials told WSB-TV Channel 2’s Jodie Fleischer that Carstaffin met the girl while he was working an off-duty security job at Crawford Long Middle School. He is accused of taking the girl off school grounds and molesting her in his car.
The indictment was returned by a Fulton County grand jury Friday morning after evidence gathered by APD was turned over to the office of District Attorney Paul Howard.
